Mr. Voravate "Joe" CHONLASIN Mr. Voravate "Joe" Chonlasin
is a Senior Program Associate in the Agriculture, Resources, Infrastructure
and Management Department (ARIM) of AIT Extension, Asian Institute of Technology
(AIT). His major role is to design, plan and implement professional development
programs and short courses in the areas of environment and natural resource
management. He has conducted 25 international and customized training programs
and he served as course director and resource person for the courses on
training of trainers, management of training centers, resource center management.He first joined the institute in 1990 as Program Assistant and was promoted as Program Associate in 1994. During 1998-2001, Mr. Chonlasin served as Senior Program Associate in Educational Development and Distance Learning Program (EDDL) of former Continuing Education Center (CEC). He was also assigned to lead and manage the Business Development Unit where he worked for two years and played a key role in formulating business and strategic marketing plan including the conduct of promotional activities for the center's training programs in the Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Nepal and Lao. During the period 1995-1997, while taking a leave from AIT, he worked as socio-economist and project coordinator in a private consultancy company where he conducted eight socio-economic and project feasibility studies for irrigation, flood control and initial environmental examination projects funded by government agencies in Thailand. Mr. Chonlasin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from King Mongkut Institute of Technology (KMITL) and a Master of Science degree from the Regional Development Planning Program, School of Environment, Resource and Development (SERD) of AIT in 1994.
