Mr. Huli Narayana Murthy is the Chief General Manager of Human Resource Development Department at the Head Office of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) which is the Apex Development Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in India. He joined the Reserve Bank of India (central bank of the country) in 1965 and until 1982 had varied exposure in Supervision of Banks, Deposit Insurance and Guarantee scheme and Currency management related areas. He joined NABARD in 1982 on its formation as a middle management professional. At NABARD, his initial exposure includes supervision over Regional Rural Banks and Cooperative Banks; planning at the district level for agriculture and rural development; development of client banks in terms of strengthening their financial position, organizational structure, human resource development and business processes.
He also had an exposure in managing the affairs of the bank as one of the top functionaries of a Regional Unit of the Bank by being responsible for different areas of operations viz. agricultural project appraisal, institutional development, planning, supervision, human resource development, rural infrastructure development and micro credit. His exposure at senior level includes being one of the Senior Members of the team at the Corporate Office on dealing with appraisal of large size agricultural projects, operational policy issues and monitoring of agricultural and rural development related projects.
At present, he is the Head of the Human Resource Development Department of the Bank at the Corporate Office. His responsibilities include heading a team of professionals handling training need assessment, designing training programmes, matters relating to training evaluation, monitoring, innovative approaches to training related matters, overall supervision of the training institutes of the bank handling both training of in-house officers as well as client banks. He is a member of a number of committees handling training issues within the bank and also represents the Bank wherever required in committees constituted by other institutions in the country in matters relating to training of Agriculture and Rural Development Banking related professionals.
